IR8 is the annual income tax return for Māori authorities. It records income, expenses, the tax calculation and, where applicable, annual Māori authority credit account information.

When to use this form

Use IR8 for the relevant income year when a Māori authority is required to file an income tax return.

What you will need

• Authority name, IRD number, address and bank details
• Income, expense and tax credit records
• Māori authority credit account information, where applicable

How to complete it

Use IR8G while completing the return. Filing through myIR or using the paper return are available options, subject to Inland Revenue’s filing instructions.
